Gianni Chiarello has gained a reputation as an extremely versatile musician, having professional credits as a guitarist, bassist, arranger and producer. His style is a preconception-free mix of jazz, rock, blues, funk and modern harmony.

A Native of Italy, took up the guitar at age 8, inspired by blues/rock players. In his forming years he performed with some of his country’s finest musicians, always keen to develop different musical styles. In 1999 he moved to Boston to attend Berklee College of Music, on a scholarship program, where he gained a degree, studying under the direction of Mick Goodrick, Hal Crook, Brett Willmott and Dave Samuels, also playing in Boston and along the States’ east coast as a freelance musician. His work in the studio is vast, ranging from playing on and producing numerous tracks, to credits in albums to be found on shelves around the world.

Active across different areas of music, he has been performing in many countries alongside celebrities from the sixties (The Platters, The Coasters, Bobby Arvon, The Diamonds), Vegas – Broadway entertainers (Tony Tillman, Kenny James, Hal Fraiser, Lorna Luft, Ben Vereen, Roy Walker) and after relocating to England with some UK’s household names (Robbie McIntosh, Jeremy Stacey, Jason Rebello, Iain Ballamy) as well as groups under his own name, playing self-penned material.

He is the author of instructional guitar books “Contemporary solo guitar” (2008), “Contemporary blues soloing” (2009), “Contemporary Blues Chords and Comping” (2011) as well as other instructional material. Alongside performing live he has been teaching privately and in academies for the last twenty years.

I currently teach one to one guitar lessons, online lessons via skype and run master classes in blues and electric guitar techniques,  jazz guitar and improvisation. If you are interested in any of the above, please get in touch through the contact form at the bottom of this page.

What my one-to-one lessons usually focus on:

  • how to learn tunes or solos and become self-sufficient.
  • basic to advanced guitar technique depending on your level.
  • basic to advanced rhythm and solo playing, again, depending on your level.
  • reading music notation (both traditional and tabs) and ear training if you are interested.

Genres covered go from pop, rock, jazz, funk, acoustic and more. I have been teaching for over 20+ years, both privately and in schools, to hundreds of students, some of whom have successfully pursued a career in the field. For more info on lessons and charges use the contact form.
